Hong Kong Jockey Club secures €260,000 Bated Breath colt

The Hong Kong Jockey Club's Mark Richards was still on attendance on day three of the August Yearling Sale and shelled out €260,000 for a colt from the second crop of Juddmonte's Bated Breath offered by Camas Park and Glenvale Studs. The compact bay is out of the unraced Bonnie Doon, and the second dam is the fast PROSKONA, who won at Group 2 and Group 3 level over short distances. The third dam Konafa is the ancestress of Hector Protector, Bosra Sham et al.

He is the ideal colt to race in Hong Kong, commented Richards. A smooth walker with a lovely attitude. I am a big supporter of Bated Breath and believe that his progeny will be suited for Hong Kong.

Frankel colt tops day 1 at €850,000 from Shadwell

Yearlings from the second crop of Juddmonte’s Frankel, whose two-year-olds have been registering jaw-dropping statistics since the start of the flat season, were in high demand and the leading offering on day 1 was an offspring of the Banstead Manor Stud resident who sold to Shadwell for €850,000.

Angus Gold had to outbid a determined Jean-Jacques Taïeb (racing manager for HSpirit) to secure lot 92, a chesnut colt out of the Fasliyev mare Pertinence, who has already produced the dual Listed winner LA PEINTURE, who sadly died before displaying her full potential. This is the family of PEINTRE CELEBRE.

Sheikh Hamdan liked the colt very much and we are very pleased to have him. Frankel has a truly outstanding success with his first crop. This is a very athletic and elegant colt who uses himself well. Moreover, he was consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux who do a tremendous job. We have been very lucky with the horses we bought from them.
