LOT 495
Territories' filly secured by Paul Basquin for €52,000

The progeny of Territories attractred again plenty of interest and Paul Basquin went up to €60,000 for the  filly issued from the family of the excellent TAMAZIRTE.

After signing the docket the manager of Haras du Saubouas commented:

She is beautiful, by sire that seems to produce well. Her page is marked by Pivotal as well, she looks "racy"  and mature.  Before we decide about her future she will join the Stud. 

 

LOT 416
Daughter of Bated Breath sells for €72,000

 

Tunisian agent Romdhane Ziad signed the docket at €72,000 for a daughter of Bated Breath offered by Haras du Long Champ. 

The filly's dam, herself unraced is a half-sister to FINSBURY SQUARE, winner of the Gr.2 Prix de Meautry and Prix du Gros-Chêne. 

The agent who bid from the restaurant in the company of the owner and future trainer of the filly, commented:

I've bought her for a lybian owner, who has just won in Dubai and this fact motivated him to invest immadiately. She's a beautiful filly, we like her sire.

She will stay in Deauville and be trained by Le Dren Doleuze

LOT 334
Son of Camelot for Australia

A regular at Deauville for a few years, Australian Matt Becker made his first purchase when swooping for a son of Camelot for €110,000. The colt was consigned by La Motteraye Consigment.

He said,

I’ve bought him for Group 1 Bloodstock, an Australlian syndicate based in Melbourne. It’s my first purchase at ARQANA! We really like his sire, Camelot. He’ll go to Australia, and hopefully he can run in the “Cup” races.”

LOT 294
Soldier Hollow colt for Pascal Bary

The gavel fell at €110,000 in favour of Pascal Bary on behalf of Alaric de Murga, standing beside him, for a bay colt by Soldier Hollow from Fairway Consignment.

After signing the docket, Murga, who had been several times underbidder until now, said,

 He’s a very well-made colt, before joking, ’ll tell you more when he wins a big race.

LOT 255 - 27
Daughter of Zoffany for Haras de Victot

From the maternal line of SPECIFICITY, that has produced Group 1 winners PRIDE and SPECIOSA, a filly (lot 255) consigned by Anna Sundstrom (Coulonces Sales) was knocked down for €130,000. Already active during the session yesterday beside Alban de Mieulle, Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani (Haras de Victot) had the final say for the daughter of Zoffany. 

She corresponds exactly to the kind of fillies that we are looking for,” said de Mieulle. “She has an excellent pedigree and is well made. She’ll be broken and then we’ll see where she goes after that.”

A few lots later, he came up against Paul Cole for a daughter of the young stallion TERRITORIES (lot 277). Offered by J.K. Thoroughbreds and with a last-minute update following her half-brother CELTIC ART’s runner-up spot in the Prix Isonomy (L.) this afternoon, the filly was sold for €260,000. 

She’s a lovely racy filly with several things in her favour for the future,” explained de Mieulle. “Sheikh Abdullah really wanted her. She’s by a very good stallion. The Sheikh will start taking full ownership of the stud next year, which explains why he is starting to invest in the future.

LOT 236
Son of Sea The Moon for Norwegian Niels Petersen

A regular at the ARQANA October Yearling Sale, where he notably bought triple Group winner SQUARE DE LUYNES, a recent winner of the Stockholm Cup International (Gr.3) last month, Norwegian trainer Niels Petersen bought a son of Sea The Moon for €130,000. The Haras de Grandcamp consigned colt is a grandson of Group winner CHIMING.

He’s a colt that I really like, commented Peterson. I’ve been coming here for the last five years and I love it! We’ve found here the last three Norwegian Derby winners, and I hope this can be the next one!

LOT 203
Son of Showcasing for Stroud Coleman Bloodstock

Very active during the first day of the sale when he bought three yearlings for €590,000, Anthony Stroud made his presence felt once again today, this time by telephone with Freddy Powell, when he had the final say for a son of Showcasing for €300,000. Offered from Haras de Castillon, the colt is a half-brother to ZIYARID, the Prix Daphnis (Gr.3) winner that also finished runner-up in the Secretariat Stakes (Gr.1). 

He’s a very athletic colt that is well balanced, said the agent by telephone. I’ve bought him for Godolphin. He’ll stay in France and be trained by Andre Fabre.

LOT 190
Daughter of Wootton Bassett for Hubert Guy

The first yearling to pass the €100,000 mark today, a daughter of Wootton Bassett from Haras d’Etreham was knocked down to Hubert Guy for €135,000. A half-sister to Listed winner MADEMOISELLE MARIE, the filly also hails from the family of Group 1 WHITE HEART, TEMPERA and RAINBOW CONNECTION. 

After signing the docket, the agent commented:

She’s a very nice filly by a very good stallion and the dam has already produced a Listed winner. I’ve bought her for a syndicate and she’ll stay in France most likely to be trained by Fabrice Chappet.

LOT 136&158
Three-parts brother to Shalaa and Siyouni daughter for Haras de Victot

Sheikh Adbullah Al Thani (Haras de Victot) made his entrance onto the buyers’ sheet through his manager Alban de Mieulle right at the end of the day when buying a three-parts brother to Shalaa (lot 136). Offered from Ecurie des Monceaux, the colt was knocked down for €180,000.

He’s a good-looking colt that all the team liked, explained de Mieulle. He’s none other than a three-parts brother to Shalaa, and now we only have to hope that he can do as well. For the moment, Sheikh Abdullah has not made a decision on his trainer - he will first be broken before any further choices will be made.

 

A few lots later, he had the final say once again, this time for a daughter of Siyouni (lot 158) for €210,000. Consigned by Haras de Mezeray, the filly hails from the family of OCCUPANDISTE, as well as MONDIALISTE, IMPRESSIONNANTE and INTELLO.

She’s a lovely filly that was well presented and has good breeding potential as well. We don’t have a trainer for her at the moment. She corresponds perfectly for what we were looking for.

LOT 151
Son of Siyouni for Peter Brant

Following SOTTSASS’s third place in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) earlier this month, his owner Peter Brant’s entourage signed for another son of Siyouni when buying lot 151 for €220,000. Offered from La Motteraye Consignment, the colt is a three-parts brother to the ill-fated VOLTA.

For a start, I really like his sire, Siyouni, said Jean-Claude Rouget. Physically, he corresponds to exactly what we are looking for.

He’ll go into training in Deauville, added Michel Zerolo. We’ve had a lot of luck with Siyouni this season, and we have bought him for the same owner as Sottsass, Peter Brant.

LOT 104
Daughter of Shalaa sold for €370,000

Offered by Haras de Castillon, a daughter of Shalaa out of a half-sister to Prix Jean Prat (Gr.1) winner HAVANA GOLD was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. She was finally knocked down to Kerri Radcliffe for €370,000, who said,

I’ve bought her for an American syndicate. I previously bought her brother at the August Sale and he was Stakes placed at Saratoga this year. She’s a queen. She’ll most likely stay in France, but we don’t know who she’ll be trained by.

LOT 98
€400,000 for a son of Sea The Stars

The well-bred son of Sea The Stars from Ecurie des Monceaux was subject to a strong bidding war between agents Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock) and David Redvers. It was the latter that had the final say at €400,000 for the colt, that is out of a half-sister to Arc winner DANEDREAM. 

We bought his half-sister by Australia in August last year, and she has since won her debut at Haydock really well. He doesn’t have the same physique, but he walks very well. He’s a Monceaux homebred by a very good stallion out of a very well-bred mare.

LOT 87
Night Of Thunder colt for Stroud Coleman Bloodstock

A colt by Night Of Thunder consigned by Haras de Saint Isidro went for €210,000 to agent Anthony Stroud. The yearling is the second foal out of  Prix de Royallieu winner (Gr.2) FRINE.

LOT 77
Son of Frankel for Japanese owner

A half—brother to triple Group winner THE JULIET ROSE was sold for €210,000 after a protracted battle in which Sebastien Desmontils came out on top. The son of Frankel was offered from Ecurie des Monceaux. 

After signing the docket, Desmontils said:

I’ve bought him for a new Japanese client that has started buying and really likes Frankel. We already bought a daughter of Siyouni in August. He’s a well-bred and very good-looking colt that still needs time to mature. He’ll go into training in France, but we don’t know who for yet.

LOT 62
Son of No Nay Never for M.V. Magnier

Coolmore made their presence felt when purchasing a €300,000 son of No Nay Never from Haras d'Elbe. Knocked down to agent Arthur Hoyeau, the colt is from the family of Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1) winner BLUE CANARI.

He’s a quality colt that walks very well and is by a stallion that really improves his stock, said Hoyeau. He’s been bought for M.V. Magnier and will go into training with Aidan O’Brien, who really likes the horse. The whole team really likes No Nay Never - he produces proper racehorses.

LOT 44bis
Tsui Family supports Sea The Stars

Bidding in company with Jean Lesbordes, the trainer of the legendary Urban Sea, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) had the final say for a daughter of Sea The Stars from Haras d'Etreham. The first foal out of Listed winner AKTORIA, she was knocked down for €200,000.

She’s a lovely filly that walks very well, said the agent. We’ve bought her for Sunderland Holdings. The Tsui Family aims to buy Sea The Stars’s best progeny where possible, like when they bought Sea Of Class. They are continuing with this, and this filly is magnificent.

She’ll be broken in Ireland at Giltown and then we’ll decide where she goes into training, added Lesbordes.

LOT 36
€125,000 for a half-brother to WONDERMENT

A half-brother to Group 1 winning juvenile WONDERMENT proved popular when knocked down for €125,000 to Daniel Cole. The blue-blooded son of Sea The Stars hails from the excellent German family of Group 1 winner WAKE FOREST and this year’s Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 2019 (Gr.1) victor WALDGEIST.

Cole said of the Haras de l'Hotellerie consigned colt:

I’ve bought him for a Japanese owner. We liked him a lot and we are really happy! He’ll stay in France and be trained by Hiroo Shimizu.

Son of Invicible Spirit for Meridian International

Out of a sister to dual Group winner SWISS DIVA, the Invincible Spirit colt from Ecurie des Monceaux was the second to break the €100,000 barrier when selling for €140,000 to Ghislain Bozo (Meridian International).

Son of Showcasing for Jean-Louis Bouchard

A brother to the inaugural October Sale Criterium winner and Prix Djebel (Gr.3) victor GOLD WIN ex DICE ROLL was knocked down for €100,000. The son of Showcasing was consigned by Haras d’Etreham. His sibling also finished third in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr.1).

Gerard Larrieu, who had the final say, said:

He’s been bought for Jean-Louis Bouchard. He’s a lovely colt out of a dam that has already produced a Group winner. He 100% corresponded at what we were looking for.
