€220.000 for a daughter of Teofilo, dam by Dubawi

A daughter of Teofilo out of Listed winning Dubawi mare QUANZHOU from the family of the Prix du Cadran (Gr.1) MILLE ET MILLE was bought by Yeguada Centurion for €220,000. She was offered from Haras de la Perelle as lot 325. 

It’s the Dubawi x Galileo cross that convinced us to buy her. She’ll be broken in Spain and go into pre-training before joining Carlos Laffon-Parias who has horses for us already, including one that  races tomorrow in the ARQANA Prix de Montaigu (LA VENUS ESPAGNOLA)

€190.000 for Wootton Bassett daughter

A daughter of Wootton Bassett out of Listed winning Group placed mare PEACEFUL LOVE from La Motteraye Consignment (lot 319) made €190,000 to Steve Burggraf in company with Laurent Benoit.

This filly is a half-sister to Group placed FORT HASTINGS.
 
« We know the family well, and we had PENNY LANE that gave us lots of joy. She’s an exceptional individual - I also saw her at the stud. She’s by a stallion that is producing good results. She’ll join Francis-Henri Graffard - we don’t need to change a winning team! »

IRISH TRIP (lot 306), consigned by Haras des Capucines, was signed for by Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) for €230,000. He is the first foal by No Nay Never out of a sister to Glenlogan Park Stakes (Gr.3) winner KANZAN.

Anthony Stroud struck again, this time for a son of Golden Horn out of Listed placed LUMIERE ROSE from the family of Champion German Three-Year-Old Champion LAVIRCO when Sally-Ann Grassick went to €200,000 on behalf of the agent. He was offered from Haras du Mézeray (lot 298). 

« He’s for a long established client. He’s a lovely individual and the vibes have been very good about Golden Horn so far."

Iffraaj son to Mark McStay for €195,000
A son of Iffraaj was knocked down to Mark McStay for €195,000 from the family of Lancashire Oaks (Gr.2) winner THE BLACK PRINCESS.

"I know Iffraaj from my days with Darley - he’s a fantastic sire. This yearling has Lawman in the pedigree - I’m delighted to get him. He’ll probably be trained in the UK - I bought him for an existing client. It’s been a strong sale and we waited to buy him."

A daughter of Kingman from La Motteraye Consignment (lot 273) sold for €170,000 to Hubert Guy. She hails from the family of Pretty Polly Stakes (Gr.2) stakes winner HANAMI.

She’s a beautiful filly that walks very well. Her sire is excellent and the dam is by Galileo. I’ve bought her as part of a syndicate."

Siyouni son for Paul Nataf

A son of Siyouni from Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 263) sold for €160,000 to Paul Nataf. The colt is a grandson of German Champion Three-Year-Old LADY MARIAN.

"He’ll stay in France where he’ll be broken at Ecurie de Grenoux for some foreign owners."

Granddaughter of Time Away sold for €165,000

Bertrand Le Metayer had the final say when going to €165,000 to secure a granddaughter of Musidora Stakes (Gr.3) winner and Group 1 placed TIME AWAY from Haras d'Etreham (lot 259). 

"She’s going to join Francis-Henri Graffard for a group of friends. I really like her female family. She’s very well developed physically."

Gerard Larrieu signs for daughter of Lope De Vega

A daughter of Lope de Vega from Haras d'Etreham (lot 255), a relative of dual Group 1 winner CONTRIBUTER, was sold for €190,000 to Gerard Larrieu.

Jean-Claude Rouget buys Victoria Girl for €150,000

VICTORIA GIRL (lot 254 from HSV Agency) was knocked down to Jean-Claude Rouget for €150,000. This daughter of Wootton Bassett is from the family of triple Group 1 winner ERVEDYA. 

"I’ve bought her for a syndicate and I like her a lot. I trained Elva and Ervedya, as well as her dam Elayouna."

Siyouni son for Fawzi Nass

A son of Siyouni from Haras des Capucines (lot 233) was sold for €200,000 to Oliver St Lawrence. He hails from the family of Listed winner and Grade 1 runner-up BRIGHT CANDLES.

"He’s been bought for Fawzi Nass. He’ll go back to England for the moment. I think he’s a lovely individual. It’s a very strong market. We’ve bought on each night before this, but have struggled with the big prices."

Yann Barberot buys Acclamation son

Yann Barberot bought a son of Acclamation for €125,000 from the family of Group winner and multiple Group 1 placed JOYFUL TRINITY ex BAGHADUR from Coulonces Sales. 

"I've bought him for Philippe Allaire. It was love at first sight when I saw him walking around the ring - he is a lovely strong colt by a good stallion."

Son of Iffraaj for €200,000

A half-brother by Iffraaj to stakes performers BIRAAJ and LIDA from the family of French Champion Two-Year-Old WOOTTON BASSETT from Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 224) was bought for €200,000 by Dermot Farrington (Phoenix Thoroughbred).

« Phoenix have the half-brother to this colt that is a nice two-year-old and he looks a good colt too. She’s a nice mare with good looking progeny. We paid enough for him but he’s by a good sire and out of a good dam. »

A half-sister to stakes performer KING OF LEOGRANCE by Wootton Bassett out of Listed placed AMOURETTE from Haras des Capucines (lot 223) went the way of Jean-Claude Rouget for €170,000.

"I trained her dam, and she has been a good producer. I’ve bought her for a syndicate."

Paul Basquin buys Visinabad

VISINABAD, offered from Haras de Beauvoir (lot 205), was sold for €150,000 to Paul Basquin (Saubouas Bloodstock). He is a half-brother by Siyouni to Group placed VISERANO and VISINARI.

« His dam VISINADA is already a good producer and his sire Siyouni is a super stallion. He’s a very nice colt that is still maturing, and walks very well. I hope he will be a good racechorse. I’m very pleased with him. He’ll go into training in France."

Offered from Haras du Quesnay (lot 199), a Motivator filly from the family of dual Arc winner TREVE was bought for €170,000 by Freddy Head for Madame de Ganay.

"I’ve bought her for Madame de Ganay. She’s a very nice filly that will progress a lot in her physique. She’s going to be outstanding in six months!"

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 193), a daughter of Sea The Stars from the family of leading stallion INVINCIBLE SPIRIT made €320,000 to Anthony Stroud, represented by Sally-Ann Grassick. 

« She’s for an existing client. He said she's a very nice filly from a good family."

€200,000 Sea The Stars filly for Mrs.Tsui

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 186), a daughter of Sea The Stars out of German Listed winner SOHO ROSE was knocked down for €200,000 to Mandore International Agency. 

Nicolas de Watrigant said: 

« Jean Lesbordes said she looks like Urban Sea, who he trained. We are very happy to buy this filly for Mrs Tsui. We are strong supporters of her stallion - she’s going to be trained by William Haggas. We hope she’s going to be the new Sea of Class. » 

Lesbordes added, « It was love at first sight."

 

LOT 174
Kenny McPeek buys daughter of Shalaa

American trainer Kenny McPeek had the final say at €160,000 for a daughter of Shalaa out of Prix Psyche (Gr.3) winner SERISIA, the dam of dual Australian Group 1 winner CONTRIBUTER, from Haras de la Louviere (lot 174).

"She’s been bought for a longstanding client of mine in Kentucky, Rick Greenberg. I think a top horse is a top horse in any country. She’s got a great physique and hindquarter - I do buy a specific type of horse and she looks like she could have some speed and stay a distance as well. I’m very particular about a horse’s hind leg, they’ve got to have a strong one to be a good horse. She has good balance and walked well. I’m very excited to buy here. Our goal is to race her in the US and maybe bring her back to Europe for some of the top race meetings such as Royal Ascot or the Prix de Diane. »

 

LOT 169
Shalaa filly sold for €260,000

Advised by Mandore, Alain Jathiere had the final say at €260,000 for a granddaughter of Prix de l'Opéra (Gr.1) winner SATWA QUEEN by Shalaa. The filly was consigned by Haras de Montaigu (lot 169).

"I didn’t think I’d have to pay so much but I’m happy. She’ll go into training in Chantilly. I also bought her for her broodmare potential."

 

LOT 148
Anthony Stroud signs for €1,625,000 Dubawi filly

The daughter of Dubawi out of PRUDENZIA, the dam of Irish Oaks (Gr.1) winner CHICQUITA, Group winner and dual runner-up at the highest level  MAGIC WAND, as well as Group placed JENEREGRETTERIEN, was consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 148). 

After a fraught battle between Michel Zerolo and Anthony Stroud (Godolphin), it’s the latter that has the final say at €1,625,000.

« She’s a very nice filly with a wonderful pedigree from an exceptional stud. She’s by a fantastic sire in Dubawi and she’ll hopefully be a good racehorse and a good addition to Godolphin’s broodmare band. Sheikh Mohammed came over to the sale this year - he hasn’t been for a long time and it’s fantastic to see him here. He’s been in the industry for a long time and his enthusiasm is as strong as ever. He’s an incredibly good judge - this is him buying the horse - I’m just following instructions! »

 

LOT 147
€1.5 million for a son of Galileo

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 147), the colt by top sire Galileo and the first foal out of a sister to PRUDENZIA goes over the million euro mark. 

It's Mitsu Nakauchida that has the final say at €1,500,000 for the colt from the family of top calibre performers CHICQUITA and MAGIC WAND. 

« Obviously he comes from a very good family and he’s a very athletic colt. He’s the first foal and is a good size and great mover. He doesn’t have any faults. We lost Deep Impact and King Kamehamaha recently in Japan and we’re looking for the next future sires. Hopefully he will be one day. We want to buy in Europe because of the different bloodlines and we wanted a Galileo. I want to prove that they can run in Japan as it’s a different style of racing - I am sure they will be successful. I am the luckiest trainer in the world - I have great owners and have been very lucky. Good horses make my job much easier!»

Offered from Haras des Capucines (lot 145), this daughter of Siyouni is the first foal out of Listed winning and Group placed mare PERSONA GRATA. She was sold for €460,000 to Justin Casse.

LOT 144
€560,000 for a daughter of Galileo

Hugo Merry had the last word at €560,000 for the granddaughter by Galileo to a Listed winner and the dam of stakes performer MAHALIA from Camas Park & Glenvale Studs (lot 144). 

« No decision has been made about the trainer yet, but my American client was very keen to buy a Galileo. She is a quality individual and there are never enough Galileos. Galileo mares are very sought after for breeding too. »

 

LOT 129
Amanda Skiffington signs for €850,000 Kingman colt

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux (lot 129), the gavel once again dropped in favour of Amanda Skiffington for a son of Kingman  at €850,000.

« The thing about this horse is that he is very athletic. I go by the way a horse moves, and he was just a lovely mover. »

This grandson of American Listed winner SHARP APPLE hails from the same family as stakes performers POMOLOGY and TOMMY TAYLOR. 

LOT 124
Anthony Stroud buys a daughter of Dark Angel for €800,000

Offered by Ballylinch Stud (lot 124), the second foal by Dark Angel out of Prix Allez France (Gr.3) winner MAYHEM was knocked down for €800,000 to Anthony Stroud on behalf of Godolphin. 

« We like this filly very much and she comes from a very good stud. She looks very racy. We bought her half-sister last year by Invincible Spirit. This was our top price. »

LOT 122
A son of Shalaa sold for €600,000 to Satomi Horse Company

Lot 122 offered by Fairway Consignment is a son of first crop sire Shalaa out of a Prix de Sandringham (Gr.2) and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Gr.1) runner-up. 

This half-brother to Listed placed PICTURE HAT and Listed winner and Group placed PENGLAI PAVILION was signed for by Emmanuel de Seroux on behalf of the Satomi Horse Company for €600,000.

« He is a beautiful horse with a lot of class. We think Shalaa will be a good stallion. He has a great pedigree and is a beautiful mover with a lot of potential. He will race in Japan for Mr. Satomi. We have a very nice Galileo filly that we purchased last year that should make a good three-year-old. »

 

LOT 112
€525,000 for a son of The Gurkha

A son from the first crop of The Gurkha from Haras de la Louvière (lot 112) was sold for €525,000 to M.V Magnier for Coolmore. The colt is a half-brother to Lancashire Oaks (Gr.2) and Prix Allez France (Gr.3) winner THE BLACK PRINCESS.

« He’s a very nice horse that looks like he could be a good two-year-old. The Gurkha was an exceptionally tough racehorse as he was pretty sick during his racing career. That day in the French Guineas he was very impressive. Hopefully this yearling will turn out well. »

 

LOT 110
Daughter of Siyouni for Shawn Dugan

A daughter of Siyouni from Haras de l'Hotellerie (lot 110) from the family of Shoemaker Mile Stakes (Gr.1) winner TALCO was sold for €380,000 to Shawn Dugan. 

"I hope well be talking about her next year. She has a lot of quality, with an athletic physique by a stallion thats making the headlines the world over. I know Pivotals son TALCO well in California, and its a cross that works very well. Shell stay in France and goes to Haras du Logis for the moment. "

 

LOT 104
Son of Frankel for Amanda Skiffington

Amanda Skiffington had the final say at €500,000 for a son of Frankel out of the Listed winner and Prix de Sandringham (Gr.2) third KENZADARGENT. This second foal was offered from La Motteraye Consignment (lot 104). 

« He’s a lovely horse, and he is quite like Frankel to me. I love Frankel. He isn’t eligible for French premiums so is unlikely to be trained here. Both horses have been bought for Fiona Carmichael. The Kingman is a lovely individual and he stood out. He could go into training in France. They’ll both go back to England to be broken and then we will see from there. »

 

LOT 99
€650,000 for a daughter of Galileo

The hammer fell at €650,000 in favour of Morten Buskop for a half-sister by Galileo to juvenile black-type performer  PEACE ENVOY and OUR LAST SUMMER from Haras des Capucines (lot 99). 

« This horse has been bought by the same lady (Editor’s note: Lone Kaj-Nielson) as bought the Dubawi colt out of Cladocera last year for €520,000. She has had a great year in Scandinavia winning the Swedish Derby amongst other races with Red Cactus (Hard Spun) bought from Mockershill as a Breeze-Up. She loves to invest in good horses and has a very good relationship with her trainer Bent Olsen. Our success started at Arqana started when she bought Brownie that became a champion miler in Scandinavia. Hopefully this horse could be a stallion prospect for Scandinavia for their breeding industry. »

LOT 95
Mitsu Nakauchida buys a son of Camelot from the family of Hurricane Run

A half-brother by Camelot to the Listed placed HIGH STRUNG from the family of Arc winner HURRICANE RUN made €650,000 to Japanese buyer Mitsu Nakauchida from Camas Park & Glenvale Studs (lot 95).


"I have always liked Camelot’s progeny and he is very good looking. I’m sure he will run well in Japan. I am the trainer and I have an owner for him already. I’ve been coming here for the last three or four years but this is the first time that I have succeeded in buying a horse. I am honoured to buy a yearling here."

€675,000 for Goken’s half-brother

The half-brother by Kingman to Group winning juvenile GOKEN was consigned by Haras de Colleville (lot 89). He was bought for €675,000 by Amanda Skiffington.

Offered from Haras de la Perelle, lot 88 by Dubawi out of the exceptional dual French and British Group 1 winning racemare GIOFRA was sold for €600,000 to Anthony Stroud. 

LOT 78
€400,000 for a daughter of Galileo

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux, this filly hails from the family of Arc winner DANEDREAM. The daughter of Galileo is the second foal out of Listed placed DEBUTANTE and was bought for €400,000 by Meridian International. 

« Despite being small, she has a lot of quality. We like her a lot. For us, Galileo is the best, not only as a stallion but also as a dam sire. I have bought her for a new partnership of Saoudi clients. I bought her dam before the Arc. I’ll keep a little part of this filly in the syndicate. »

LOT 68
Son of Galileo and Cladocera fetches €750,000

Consigned by Haras de la Perelle, the son of top stallion Galileo (lot 68) is the second foal out of dual Group 2 winning mare Cladocera, that also finished runner-up in the Matron Stakes (Gr.1). He was bought by Anthony Stroud for €750,000.

« He’s a very nice yearling - and I hope he will be on the racetrack! He’s very athletic by a wonderful stallion in Galileo out of a Group winning mare. »

LOT 54
Half-sister to FLEETING makes €400,000

Consigned by Haras d’Ombreville, the Olympic Glory filly was sold for just €45,000 at the Breeding Stock Sale in 2018. Her half-sister FLEETING won the May Hill Stakes (Gr.2) before finishing runner-up in the Kerrygold Irish Oaks (Gr.1) this year. She was sold for €400,000 to Shawn DUGAN.

« She’s lovely and comes from a family that is very active at the moment. Her new owner is very happy. The filly was born at the end of April so she’s going to mature a lot more. She’ll go into training in France.

LOT 52
A daughter of Frankel for Justin Casse

A half-sister by Frankel to Group winner NORDIC ONE and FAMILY ONE was bought for €535,000 by Justin Casse. Consigned by Haras des Capucines, she is a daughter of Listed winner ASCOT FAMILY.

 If she does half as well as War Of Will she will be worth her weight in gold. She stood over a lot of ground, she moved really well and had a lot of quality to her. Frankel’s been very good to me, I’ve bought some stakes horses by him. She’s got residual value and looked the part. »

A daughter of Siyouni for Jason Litt
Offered from the Fairway Consignment, the daughter of Siyouni out of Listed winner and Group placed APPLE CHARLOTTE was sold for €650,000 to Jason Litt. She’s a half-sister to Group placed LOTTIE. 
 
« Clearly a lot of people liked her as well and we’re delighted to have her. She’s been bought for LNJ Foxwoods. She’s a lovely filly - we prefer to buy them first before making any plans to her future! We’ve had a lot of success with horses bought from Arqana. »

€450,000 for a son of Invincible Spirit
Offered from Camas Park and Glenvale Studs, the son of Invincible Spirit and the Gr.3 Prix de Flore winner ALBISOLA went the way of Emmanuel de Seroux (Narvick International) on behalf of the Satomi Horse Company for €450,000.

« He’s got an exceptional physique and is very athletic. We saw him at the stud a few weeks ago and wanted to buy him. He will probably race in France - I’ve bought him for the Satomi Horse Company. Mr Satomi has had lots of success in Japan and would like to have some quality horses in Europe."

Half sister to DUKE OF HAZZARD sold for €400,000 

The half-sister by Teofilo to the Gr.3 Thoroughbred Stakes winner consigned by Haras d’Etreham made €400,000 to Bertrand Le Metayer. 

« She’s a nice filly with the same character as Teofilo, that is an good stallion. We like his statistics as a producer as well as dam sire. She looks precocious. She’ll go into training with Francis-Henri Graffard."

A daughter of Le Havre out of dual Group 3 winner TOP TOSS was knocked down for €500,000 to Oceanic Bloodstock. Consigned by Haras de la Louviere, she is a half-sister to Group 3 winner and dual Group 1 placed LESSTALK IN PARIS.
 
Michel Zerolo said : 
"She’s a filly that we like a lot. We didn’t think we’d have to pay so much to get her! She’s going to stay in France and go into training with Jean-Claude Rouget. I’ve bought her for White Birch Farm. » 

 

LOT 23
€800,000 for a son of Galileo
A son of the top stallion Galileo, lot 23 from Haras d’Etreham was sold for €800,000 to Phoenix Thoroughbreds. He is the first foal out of dual Group winner STEIP AMACH.
"I would love to have a great Galileo colt, so we're very excited. When we buy yearlings in Europe we send them to England to be broken before deciding further. We like to take our time and we’ve got a lot of trainers, so no decisions will be made yet. We hope we’ve bought a good one."

LOT 21
€700,000 for half-brother to SOTTSASS, SISTERCHARLIE and MY SISTER NAT
The half-brother to this year’s Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1) hero SOTTSASS, six-time G1 winner SISTER CHARLIE and MY SISTER NAT was knocked down for €700,000 to David Redvers from Ecurie des Monceaux.
 
"He’s probably out of one of the most exciting young mares and one of the most exciting crosses. He’s the most gorgeous horse and temperament - he was walking around there like he owned the place. He’s been bought for Qatar Racing and we’re very very excited to have him. I was on the phone to Sheikh Fahad in California where he is watching proceedings, and I’m thrilled to get a horse like that. He is the type of horse he is now looking for - we’re breeding a lot of our own but we want to fill in the gaps and find these kinds of horses. He’s a world class horse at a world class sale. I haven’t had a chance to discuss plans with him yet, but one thing is for certain, he will go to a trainer who deserves him."

A son of Kingman for Alastair Donald

Offered from La Motteraye Consignment, the son of Kingman out of Group placed SPIN, a sister to Listed winner DIRGAM and Group 1 placed MOTH, was signed for by Alastair Donald for €600,000.

"I’m very pleased. Kingman is really popular right now. Those were the only two on our list - I was hoping to get one but we ended up getting both so I’m very happy. Lot 19 was the pick of the sale for me - he’s very similar to a horse that we bought for King Power called Fox Chairman. The sister is a good horse. We loved him. The first one, I think he was very nice and well balanced for a late foal. The mare has already produced two stakes horses from four. We’re very happy. Both horses have been bought for King Power. The plan was to buy a couple here and we bought the only two on the list today. They’ll go to England and we’ll take it from there. »

A daughter of Siyouni knocked down for €450,000 to Anthony Stroud
The first foal out of the Listed placed SIAMSAIOCHT offered by Ecurie des Monceaux, the daughter of Siyouni eventually went the way of Anthony Stroud for €450,000. 
 
He said,
 
"She is a very good looking filly that moves very well. Her sire is an exceptional stallion - I’ve had lots of luck with him - and she was bred at a top stud. All of this makes her a very attractive prospect. She will run in the Godolphin colours."
LOT 4
€700.000 for a daughter of Frankel

Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux, the daughter of Frankel from the family of black-type performers PLUMANIA, PLUMATIC and LEFT HAND was knocked down for €700,000.

It was Shawn Dugan that had the final say, commenting: 
"She’s absolutely stunning, obviously. We went a lot higher than we wanted to but she’s just gorgeous. There’s nothing wrong with her, the stallion’s on fire and the family is live, that’s all I can say. We’re very happy. She’s been bought for an undisclosed client of mine but she will stay in training in France as she is a French bred. She’s an absolute stunner."
