Offered from Haras des Castillon, a half-sister to Prix Djebel (Gr.3) placed GRAIGNES was knocked down for €95,000. Anne-Sophie Yoh Benet (YOHEA) had the final say for the daughter of Zarak from the family of Group winners ELTISH, CONTREDANCE and SKIMMING.
She’s a lovely filly that is very well bred. She really has star quality, said Anne-Sophie Yoh Benet. I’ve bought her for a new client that already invested in broodmares last year and is now buying their first yearlings. We’ve bought five this week. They’ll stay in France and then we’ll decide on trainers according to the individual thereafter.
Just a lot later, a son of Le Havre out of Group placed SAGE MELODY from Haras d’Ombreville made €120,000. It was the trio Alain Decrion, Jerome Reynier and Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) that had the final say for the half-brother to dual Listed placed MILLAU, from the family of Group winners MARIE DE KEN and ANA MARIE.
He’s a lovely colt - very athletic and his dam was a good racemare, said Jerome Reynier. He has lots of things going for him and his half-brother has got black-type. We hope that it continues in the same vein!
The third day of the sale started with a bang with a half-sister to yesterday’s Deauville Prix des Réservoirs (Gr.3) scorer ROSACEA going under the hammer. Standing beside Mathieu Alex (SUMBE), John Hammond had the final say for the daughter of Tamayuz from the close family of Group 1 winner REGGANE from Haras de la Perelle.
After signing the docket, John Hammond said:
I’ve bought her for a partnership between Gerard Augustin-Normand and Nurlan Bizakov. She’s a lovely filly and now a half-sister to a Group winner. We hope that she’ll be as good.

Offered from La Motteraye Consignement, a son of the young Haras d’Etreham sire Almanzor was knocked down for €100,000 in favour of Ghislain Bozo (Meridian International). The colt, from the excellent family of SAGAMIX, will join the boxes of Edouard Monfort.

A few lots later, the hammer fell at €110,000 for a daughter of Al Wukair, a half-sister to Prix Millkom (L.) winner MOUILLAGE. Bidding beside John Hammond, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International) had the final say for the filly on behalf of Normandie Breeding.

Ghislain Bozo (Meridian International) went to €140,000 for a daughter of Iffraaj from Jedburgh Stud. After signing the docket for the filly from the family of Group winners DIBAJJ, CHINEUR and THE SUMMIT, the agent said,
We just had to have her! She’s a very racy filly from a speedy family. She’ll also be ideal for breeding from. I’ve bought her for a Scandinavian client, AB Ascot (Finn Bichfeldt). She’ll join Christophe Ferland’s stable.
Bidding reached €150,000 for a brother to Prix Paul de Moussac Longines (Gr.3) winner NATIONAL SERVICE from Coulonces. It was Paul Harley that signed the docket for the colt by Elusive City. He commented,
I think he was one of the best colts in the catalogue. He has everything to be a racehorse - the physique and I like his attitude. We don’t know yet where he’ll go into training but he’ll probably stay in France. He brother was a winner at two - we hope he’ll be as good as his brother.

Carlos & Yann Lerner, trainers of the juvenile QUEEN TREZY that showed her talent just a few hours before the sale when finishing runner-up in the Prix des Réservoirs (Gr.3) on only her third start, went to €130,000 for a daughter of Almanzor from Haras d’Etreham from the family of Group winner KREEM.
She’s a lovely filly, well balanced, said Yann Lerner. I’ve bought her for an association between Mr de Chambure and Haras du Cadran. We’re very pleased with our purchase!
A few lots later, the gavel fell at €350,000 for a daughter of Wootton Bassett out of Group placed BROKEN APPLAUSE from J.K. Thoroughbreds. Bidding beside the British trainer Nigel Tinkler, Jamie Piggott had the final say for the half-sister to this season’s juvenile Listed runner-up ABOVE, that is also from the family of Champion German Two-Year-Old OWINGTON.
She’s a lovely filly from a great family, said the agent. Nigel never stopped telling me that she was a filly that could run at Ascot, and I hope he’s right! She’ll join his stable in England. I’ve bought her for one of his clients. She also has residual value. We’re very happy with our purchase.

A son of Camelot out of dual Group 3 winner and Group 1 runner-up BOARD MEETING consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux was subject to a long battle between Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) and Anthony Stroud, with the former coming out on top for €440,000. The colt, the top lot of the day, is a half-brother to Listed winner BIG BLUE, from the family of Classic winner BRIGHT SKY.
He’s a lovely colt by Camelot and his dam was placed in the Prix de l’Opera (Gr.1). I’ve bought him for M.V. Magnier, for whom I bought a son of Camelot in 2018 named MYTHICAL, that is now Group placed. He’s a stallion that we like a lot and we’ve had a lot of success with. We’re very pleased, said Nicolas de Watrigant.
Bidding rocketed around the ring for a son of Wootton Bassett from La Motteraye Consignment. Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock), bidding once again for White Birch Farm, had the final say for the colt from the close family of Nassau Stakes (Gr.1) winner WINSILI. He was bred by Haras du Thenney.

Making his presence felt with his purchases throughout the day, Anthony Stroud struck once again, this time for a son of Cloth Of Stars from Haras du Logis. The gavel fell at €280,000 for the half-brother to this season's Prix de Ris-Orangis (Gr.3) winner OCEAN.
He’s a lovely colt, said the agent. His dam has already produced good horses.

Just two lots later, buyers were once again present for a half-sister by Churchill to Grand Prix de Paris (Gr.1) scorer SHAKEEL from Haras de Montaigu. Bidding on behalf of White Birch Farm, Michel Zerolo (Oceanic Bloodstock) had the final say at €350,000 for the filly, that hails from the leading Aga Khan maternal line of Classic winner SHEMAKA.
After signing the docket, the agent said,
She’s a lovely filly by Churchill, from a great Aga Khan family. She’ll be trained here in Deauville by Jean-Claude Rouget.

Bidding on behalf of Al Shaqab Racing, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) and Paul Hensey had the final say for the brother to Listed winner SIVOLIERE from the close family of SOPHISTICAT.

Among the lots offered by Ecurie des Monceaux was a half-sister to Prix Jean Prat (Gr.1) winner INTELLOGENT. Knocked down for €360,000, it was Jean-Louis Bouchard standing alongside Gerard Larrieu that had the final say for the daughter of Dubawi from the family of NIGHT OF MAGIC and NIGHT FLOWER.
I really like everything about her, said Jean-Louis Bouchard. She’s a lovely big filly by Dubawi, a stallion that I like a lot. I’m looking for mares for my broodmare band at my stud that I bought a few years ago. I think she’ll make a good broodmare, as she’s also a half-sister to a Group 1 winner. She has everything going for her. We haven’t decided on a trainer yet.

Bidding beside Paul Hensey, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) had the final say at €220,000 for a daughter of Wootton Bassett out of dual Group winner OLMA. Offered from Écurie des Monceaux, the filly also hails from the maternal line of Fillies’ Mile (Gr.1) winner TEGGIANO.
I liked her from the start, said Paul Hensey. She walks very well and has a great South African page. She’s out of a dual Group winner and is a very good looking filly - we have lots to dream about with her! Like all the fillies, we’ll break her first before deciding on which trainer will suit her best.
Several buyers were in attendance around the ring for a son of Siyouni out of Listed winner MODERN EAGLE from Ecurie des Monceaux. The hammer finally fell at €420,000 in favour of Laurent Benoit (Broadhurst Agency) and M.V Magnier for the half-brother to multiple Listed placed MASTERPIECE from the excellent family of MOONLIGHT DANCE.
After signing the docket, the agent said,
He’s a son of Siyouni out of a mare by Montjeu. For me he was the best colt in the sale. We knew we would have to fight for him. He was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. We’ve bought him for a partnership for Coolmore. We don’t yet know where he’ll go into training.

Among the six-figure yearlings during the session was a son of Galileo consigned by Haras des Capucines. A half-brother to Eclipse Stakes (Gr.1) winner MUKHADRAM, the colt was knocked down for €260,000 to Michael Donoghue (BBA Ireland) via ARQANA Online.

Anthony Stroud came up against Sébastien Desmontils for a son of Wootton Bassett from Écurie des Monceaux. The former had the final say at €420,000 for the colt, the first foal out of LUCERNE, a half-brother to top class performer CHARM SPIRIT, the winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr.1s).
He’s an exceptional colt, and we really liked him, said the agent. We have yet to make any plans, but we’re very happy.
He’s a lovely colt, very athletic. We’ve been lucky with Wootton Bassett and I hope that it continues. He’s from a great family. We’re very happy.’
The first part of the October Yearling Sale catalogue started with a bang this morning as one of the first yearlings to go through the ring, a daughter of Wootton Bassett out of Group placed HAREM LADY from Haras d’Etreham was knocked down for €210,000 in favour of Anthony Stroud and Matt Coleman.
We’ve bought her for the same connections as AUDARYA, said Anthony Stroud. We hope she’ll be as good as her. She’s a lovely filly, very athletic. We’re very happy.
