Myboycharlie filly makes up Voltaire shopping list

Thierry Gillier, the founder of fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire and a new investor in the thoroughbred industry, topped up his shopping list with the purchase of a daughter of Myboycharlie for €100,000 via Marc-Antoine Berghgracht's MAB Agency. The bay is a half-sister to the Gr.3 Prix des Réservoirs scorer ESPIRITA and has the great REPROCOLOR as her third dam, hence counting the likes of COLORSPIN, ZEE ZEE TOP and STAGECRAFT on her page.

Gillier is putting together a future broodmare band to be based at his Haras de Voltaire, located on the outskirts of Deauville, and bought three fillies by Shamardal, Invincible Spirit and Charm Spirit for a total of €850,000 at the August Yearling Sale.

She has everything we have been looking for and is by a sire we like, explained Berghgracht. She hails from a fabulous family which is important for Mr. Gillier's future breeding operation.

Zonza update helps bring Makfi filly to six figures

A Makfi filly offered by Eric Puerari and Michel Zerolo's Haras des Capucines had benefited from a significant update with her two-year-old half-sister ZONZA, unbeaten in two starts when the catalogue was printed, took the Gr.3 Prix du Bois in fine style and went on to run 4th in the Gr.1 Prix Morny 48 hours ago.

Her year-younger half-sister wasn't short of admirers and eventually attracted a bid of €100,000 from Paul Basquin of Haras du Saubouas.

She is very racy filly who uses herself very well and obviously her dam seems to be a good breeder. Makfi is another asset. Her future is still undecided, I will take her home and make plans.

Dabirsim back to the fore with €95K buy from Con Marnane

As the owner of Dabirsim's highest-rated offspring to date in DIFFERENT LEAGUE, Con Marnane is as aware as anyone of the merits of the Haras de Grandcamp resident and was content to shell out €95,000 to take home a another of his daughters (lot 418). Fittingly offered by Grandcamp itself, the filly is the first foal out of the Kodiac mare Takara Girl, the winner of four races and from the family of Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner CHORIST.

We just hope she is half as good as Different League, quipped Marnane. I also liked the fact that her dam is by Kodiac. She really ticked all the boxes. I will now take her home and adore her for the next six months!

Wattel goes to €110K to bag another Siyouni colt

Deauville-based trainer Stephane Wattel has an impeccable strike rate with sons of Siyouni, as of the three he has trained so far, one is a Group-placed three-year-old, the other won last week on his two-year-old debut and the third one ran an eye-catching 3rd first time out, 10 minutes before the start of today's sale. Understandably, the Deauville-based professional was keen to add another colt by the Haras de Bonneval resident and went to €110,000 to take home lot 401, a half-brother to the Gr.3-winning juvenile PEARL FLUTE and to Listed victrix SECRET PURSUIT. The Jedburgh Stud offering hails from the same family as STRAIGHT RIGHT, himself a Listed-winning son of Siyouni.

The colt was offered to dissolve a partnership and John Corbani has bought out his partner Alec Waugh. We have been very lucky with Siyouni and this fellow has always been very straightforward. He has done very well over the past few weeks and we are pretty excited about him.

A dark bay son of champion juvenile and leading first season sire Dabirsim was the first to break the six-figure barrier when selling for €110,000 to Powerstown Stud's Tom Whitehead. From the draft of Haras des Capucines, he is the second foal out of a half-sister to the Gr.3 victrix HAPSBURG. The pinhooker commented:

He will hopefully come back here in the spring. Dabirsim is a most exciting sire and we've already been lucky with him so we'll just hope it continues.
