Son of Zoffany sold for €550,000

A son of Zoffany from Willie Browne’s Mocklershill was eagerly awaited in the ring. Oliver St Lawrence signed the docket at €550,000 for the half-brother to Kilboy Estate Stakes (Gr.2) winner LEMISTA. 

We really like him, said the agent. He’s a really nice horse that is very well made and breezed very well yesterday. He’ll go to Roger Varian that saw him yesterday and he really liked him.

 

LOT 132
FOREVER ROSE goes to the United States

Of the other six figure lots during the day was a daughter of Cracksman out of a sister to Group 2 FOR THE MILLIONKISS from Church Farm & Horse Park Stud. Stephen Hillen, standing beside Dean Reeves, went to €420.000 for the filly that hails from Preis der Diana (Gr.1) winner FEODORA.

After signing the docket, the agent said, 

I’ve bought her for Dean Reeves and she’ll go to the States to join Christophe Clement. I saw her at the stud a month ago, and I really liked her. I think she could be very good over 2000 metres.

Dean Reeves, who travelled to Deauville for the first time, 

We came here to find a lovely filly and take her to the states and she ticks all the boxes. We’ll take our time with her and wait for the autumn. Christophe Clement is a very good trainer with whom we’ve had lots of success. We can’t wait for the adventure to start!

LOT 124
Son of Siyouni sold for €520.000 to Oliver St Lawrence

Michael Murphy from Longways Stables offered a son of Siyouni from the close family of the excellent MECCA'S ANGEL. The colt was subject to a bidding war in which the english agent Oliver St Lawrence came out on top at €520,000.

LOT 114
Daughter of Exceed And Excel for Coolmore

A few minutes later, it was the turn of a daughter of Exceed And Excel consigned by Tally Ho Stud to make six figures. Bidding on behalf of Coolmore, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) had the final say at €360.000 for the filly from the family of Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed ASFURAH. 

I love this filly! Said the agent. She has an outstanding physique and showed a lot of quality on the track yesterday. She’s by a very good stallion in Exceed And Excel and has been bought for Coolmore.

LOT 122
€350,000 for a son of Sea The Moon

Offered from Powerstown Stud, a son of Sea The Moon out of Listed winner ENJOY THE LIFE was knocked down for €350.000. Anthony Stroud had the final say for the brother to Listed winner and Group placed ENJOY THE MOON, saying:

I really liked this colt - he did a good breeze and comes from a good family. I’ve bought him for one of my clients - we haven’t yet decided on his future plans, maybe he’ll go to England.

Daughter of Twirling Candy for Blandford Bloodstock

Buyers were once again present for the passage of a daughter of Twirling Candy through the ring. Out of the black-type CHURCH CAMP, the final bid came at €380,000. It was Richard Brown (Blandford Bloodstock) that signed the docket for the filly from the family of multiple Group winners MR. MISUNDERSTOOD and MIDDLESEX DRIVE offered from Malcom Bastard.

LOT 74
Shamardal colt knocked down for €280,000

A few lots later, the gavel fell at €280,000 for a son of Shamardal out of Group winning and Group 1 placed THAWAANY. Offered from Powerstown Stud, the colt hails from the family of Group 1 winners CHELSEA ROSE and KEW GARDENS. He was knocked down to Colm Skarkey (CDS Bloodstock), who said,

He’s the horse that I wanted to buy, so I’m very happy! He’s the only horse by Shamardal in the catalogue and vetted very well. He’ll go to Dubai and we’ll decide on his trainer in due course.

LOT 70
€450,000 for a son of More Than Ready

Several potential buyers were present for a son of More Than Ready from Grove Stud. Michael Donohoe (BBA Ireland) had the final say for the colt, the first foal out of a half-sister to US Listed winner and Graded placed MEAL PENALTY.

There’s everything to like about this horse, said the Irish agent. He’s an expressive colt, that is very intelligent and that did a fantastic breeze yesterday. He could run on the turf or the dirt, and it’s possible that he could go to the Middle East. That’s still to be decided.

Brother to TEN SOVEREIGNS knocked down for €350,000 to Peter & Ross Doyle

Offered from Mocklershill, a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner TEN SOVEREIGNS was sold for €350,000. A son of No Nay Never out of the black-type SEEKING SOLACE, the colt hails from the family of Group 1 victors SHAMAL WIND and MY DARLING ONE. 

After signing the docket, Ross Doyle commented: 

He’s a lovely colt, well made and resembles his sire that is having a very good season. He comes from a great consignor, and we’re really happy! We’ll decide on his trainer later.

Daughter of Good Magic for AMO Racing

Offered by Aguiar Bloodstock, a daughter of Good Magic out of Molly Pitcher Stakes (Gr.2) winner LUNA VEGA was knocked down for €280,000. Bidding on behalf of AMO Racing, Kerri Radcliffe had the final say for the filly, commenting:

Good Magic’s progeny have been very popular in the States, and they seem to like them. I’ve bought this filly for AMO Racing, and we’ll now take a little time to talk about her future.

Son of Sea The Stars sold for €300,000 to Anthony Stroud

On its return to Deauville, the Breeze Up Sale began this afternoon following the canters yesterday on the grass at Deauville-La Touques Racecourse. 

The second lot to go under the hammer, a son of Sea The Stars, was knocked down for €300,000. It was Anthony Stroud who signed the docket for the second foal out of MORTOLA, a half-sister to Group 1 winners JAKKALBERRY, CRACKERJACK KING and AWELMARDUK, from Church Farm & Horse Park Stud. 

« He’s a lovely colt by Sea The Stars » said the agent. « He breezed well yesterday and will go into training with John & Thady Gosden. »
