The October Yearling Sale continued on Thursday with the second half of Part II of the catalogue. Offered from Haras de l’Hotellerie, a son of Toronado out of the black-type DIYAKALANIE was knocked down for €130,000. It was trainer Joël Boisnard that had the final say for the half-brother to the black-type performer DREAM DY and to this season’s Groupe placed MOON WOLF.
In my career as a trainer, her dam has been the best mare I’ve trained so far, said Joel Boisnard. I’ve trained one of her sons and I think this one is made to run at Auteuil. I’ve bought him for Xavier Papot - he’s a lovely horse that has vetted well and all the lights are green with him.
A little later in the day, Amanda Skiffington came up against Carlos and Yann Lerner for a daughter of New Bay from Haras de Castillon. It was the former that had the final say at €120,000 for the filly that hails from the family of Group winners SUDAN and SPECIAL HAPPENING. She said,
I like everything about this filly, she’s well made and has a good temperament.

At the end of the day, a daughter of Blue Point offered from La Motteraye Consignment was knocked down for €110,000 in favour of trainer Satoshi Kobayashi. The well-bred filly hails from the excellent family of IN CLOVER, the dam of Group 1 winners CALL THE WIND, WITH YOU and WE ARE.
She’s a very well bred filly - a little small but well made, said the Chantilly trainer. She’s by Blue Point, a stallion that is in demand, and comes from a good family. I’m very pleased with this purchase on behalf of one of my Japanese clients, Healthy Wood. She’ll be trained by me.
The second day of the October Yearling Sale, which sees the first session of Part II take place, began this afternoon. Offered from Haras de la Louvière, a daughter of the young stallion Without Parole was knocked down for €160,000 in favour of Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency). The well bred granddaughter of Preis der Diana (Gr.1) winner PENELOPA hails from the family of Group winners MISS ISELA and SIR CHEROKEE.
She’s a superb filly, said Nicolas de Watrigant. I really liked her and she’s a great looking filly. Without Parole was a very good racehorse, he won the St. James’ Palace Stakes and he is by Frankel. She’s been bought for Madaket Stables and will go to the United States. Some very good horses have come out of this sale, I hope she will do just as well!

A few minutes earlier, he also signed the docket at €120,000 for a daughter of Zarak from Haras de l’Hôtellerie. From the family of Prix Vermeille (Gr.1) heroine SWEET LADY as well as Grade 1 winners FAAZ, CHRIS EVERT, CHIEF’S CROWN, and CLASSIC CROWN, the filly was bought for Jean-Claude Séroul.
Consigned by Haras d’Etreham, a son of Siyouni out of Group placed DECORATING was knocked down for €420,000. Bidding on behalf of Coolmore, Laurent Benoit (Broadhurst Agency) had the final say for the colt from the close family of Group 1 winners COIL and POSSIBLY PERFECT as well as Group scorers CHIROPRACTOR, PROMONTORY GOLD, DONEGAL MOON and TENFOLD.

A little later in the afternoon, bidding reached €260,000 for a daughter of Siyouni out of the black-type mare DEBUTANTE from Écurie des Monceaux. The SUMBE team had the final say for the half-sister to Group placed DARE TO DREAM from the family of Group 1 winners DANEDREAM, LADY BERRY, VERT AMANDE and INDIAN ROSE.

A son of Zarak was subject to a lot of interest around the ring when Ross Doyle came up against Matt Coleman for the Fairway Consignment (Charles Brière) offered colt. It was the former that had the final say with a bid of €420,000 for the half-brother to Group placed ADMIRAL DE VEGA out of the black-type ZEEYARA. The well-bred colt hails from the family of Gr.1 winners LAHUDOOD, BAAEED and the recently retired HUKUM.

Consigned by Haras de Colleville, a daughter of Camelot out of the black-type mare WANAWAY was knocked down for €220,000. It was Anthony Stroud that signed for the filly from the close family of Group winners BATWAN, MYASUN, SPEAK OF THE DEVIL and MORANDO.

Bidding from the restaurant, the SUMBE team went to €240,000 for a half-sister to dual Listed winner SHALROMY, that also finished runner-up in the Prix Texanita (Gr.3) this season. Offered from La Motteraye Consignment, the daughter of Bated Breath is out of a half-sister to Group scorer DESERT ICON and hails from the excellent family of PEINTURE BLEUE, PEINTRE CELEBRE and PEINTURE RARE.

A little later in the day, Anthony Stroud made his presence felt once again, this time when going to €260,000 for a half-sister to multiple Group scorer and Grosser Preis von Berlin (Gr.1) scorer SIMCA MILLE. Consigned by Haras de la Perelle, the filly hails from the family of Classic winner SARAFINA and Group scorers GENIALE, SAVARIN and ANDAGIYR.

An eagerly awaited son of Siyouni out of the black-type mare SHAMTEE didn’t disappoint when knocked down for €350,000 in favour of Anthony Stroud. Consigned by Haras du Mont dit Mont, the colt hails from the family of Group 1 scorers TERRITORIES, HELEN STREET, STREET CRY, VICTOR LUDORUM and SHAMARDAL.
He ticks all the boxes, said the agent. He walks well, is a son of Siyouni and his dam is by Shamardal. We’re very happy. He’ll be trained by André Fabre.

Offered by the Haras de la Louvière, a daugther of Wootton Bassett and a half-sister to Group scorer KING MALPIC out of the black-type mare DREAM WORKS, was knocked down for €260,000 to Jérôme Glandais. The filly hails from the close family of Prix Six Perfections (Gr.3) heroine SEE THE ROSE and Group scorers SAHARA SLEW, SALPINX and ZALAZL.

Also consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, a son of Camelot was knocked down for €180,000. It was Jeremy Brummitt that had the final say for the half-brother to this season’s Group winning and Group 1 placed VESPERTILIO, from the excellent family of PACIFIQUE, which also includes MAGIC WAND, CHICQUITA and PHILOMENE.

Just a couple of lots later, the hammer fell at €210,000 in favour of recent Arc winning trainer Jean-Claude Rouget for a daughter of Pinatubo out of Group winner PACIFIQUE. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, the filly is a half-sister to Prix de Lutèce (Gr.3) winner PAIX and hails from the excellent family of the globetrotter MAGIC WAND and the very talented CHICQUITA and PHILOMENE.

The second major sale reserved for yearlings, the October Sale, began this morning with the first part of the catalogue. Among the first lots to go under the hammer was a son of Siyouni out of the black-type mare OVER REACTED that was knocked down for €175,000. Grove Stud’s Brendan Holland signed the docket for the colt from the family of Group winners IVORY LAND and INDIA from Haras de Grandcamp.

He’s a lovely colt by Siyouni and is a very good size. He’s very athletic and is already very strong. He’ll come back here next May for the Breeze-Ups.
