€85,000 for a son of Authorized

At the end of the session, agent Ryan Mahon went to €85,000 for a son of Authorized. Offered from Haras de l’Aumonerie, the yearling is a out of a half-sister to Long Island Handicap (Gr.3) scorer ARLES, from the family of Classic winner ALLEZ FRANCE.

We really liked the horse, said Ryan Mahon. He had a very good attitude in the ring. Ive bought him for an Irish client.

LOT 632
Son of Authorized for Joffret Huet

Joffret Huet (JH Bloodstock) and Bertrand Le Metayer (BLM Bloodstock) went to €77,000 for a son of Authorized out of this year’s Grade 3 placed CHEF D'OEUVRE. Offered from Haras des Pierres Follets, the yearling hails from the excellent family of Group/Graded winners BARNEY DWAN, GEOS and KAPGARDE. 

After signing the docket, Joffret Huet commented:

Hes been very well prepped and walks very well with lots of things to like about him. We had to battle for him, but we’re very happy. Weve bought him for a partnership between Lynne McLennan and a client of Bertrand Le Metayer.

LOT 565
Son of Doctor Dino for Highflyer Bloodstock

David Minton (Highflyer Bloodstock) came to the fore once more for a son of Doctor Dino, this time from The Channel Consignment. Bidding once again on behalf of Dai Walters (Walters Plant Hire), the agent had the final say at €85,000 for the yearling from the close family of Prix de la Haye Jousselin (Gr.1) winner and four-time Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (Gr.1) runner-up SHANNON ROCK.

LOT 518
Half-brother to THRILLING goes to England

Just a lot later, it was the turn of a son of Doctor Dino through the ring. David Minton (Highflyer Bloodstock) had the final say for a half-brother to the very talented THRILLING, a Listed winner at Auteuil this season. Offered by Haras des Sablonnets, the yearling is from the close family of Graded winner HINTERLAND and will now run in the colours of Dai Walters (Walters Plant Hire).

For me he was the best yearling in the sale, said Minton. He’s by a great stallion in Doctor Dino and a half-brother to Thrilling, that is a very good filly.

Son of Saint Des Saints for Bertrand Le Metayer

Already making his presence felt around the ring early in the day, Bertrand Le Metayer (BLM Bloodstock) struck this time for a son of Saint Des Saints out of Auteuil winning and Prix Alain du Breuil (Gr.1) placed LIBERTE D’AIMER. Offered from Haras du Buff, the yearling is also from the close family of Graded hurdle winner CEDRE BLEU. He was knocked down for €80,000.

LOT 501
Son of Saint des Saints for Trotting Bloodstock

Offered by Charles Brière (Fairway Consignment), a half-brother to LATINO DES ISLES, the winner of the Prix Noiro (L.) this season, was sold for  €65,000. A son of Saint Des Saints out of dual Listed winner ISLE ENCHANTE, the yearling hails from the excellent family of MESANGE ROYALE, GRIVETTE and ROYALTEETY. 

It was Florent Fonteyne (Trotting Bloodstock) that had the final say, commenting: 

He’s a lovely horse that should just keep improving. We love his half-brother, Latino des Isles, that is an impressive horse. We’re very happy.

LOT 504
Son of Masked Marvel sold for €55,000

A few minutes later, Bertrand Le Metayer (BLM Bloodstock) went to €55,000 for a son of Masked Marvel out of a daughter of German Group 3 winner KAPITOL. Offered from Haras de Montaigu, the gelding is from the leading German family of Group 1 winner KAMSIN, Preis Von Europa (Gr.1) scorer KHAN and Group winner KAPITALE.

The results of recent races at Auteuil have made us think about different crosses and horses that have pedigrees that are more orientated towards the flat than jumps. He was one of the best yearlings in the sale from a great German family that gives stamina and strong potential. Weve bought him for a partnership, and hell be trained by Arnaud Chaille-Chaille.

€77,000 for a son of No Risk At All

Offered from Haras de l’Hotellerie, a son of No Risk At All was knocked down for €77,000. Bidding on behalf of Dai Walters (Walters Plant Hire), Antony Bromley (Highflyer Bloodstock) had the final say for the gelding out of a half-sister to Auteuil Prix Robert Weilll (L.). winner and Group placed HORABORA HAS.

After signing the docket, Antony Bromley said, 

I’ve bought him for Dan Walters, for whom I have been purchased a number of yearlings at the Autumn Sale for a number of years. This is our first purchase of the day and we really liked this horse. Hes big, walks like a real racehorse and has a very good page. Hell now go to England to be broken and start work.

Two stores for Andy and Gemma Brown

Bidding on behalf of Andy and Gemma Brown, Joey Logan went to €130,000 for a son of Doctor Dino from Haras de Cercy. The AQPS is a half-brother to five-time Grade 1 winner DELTA WORK, and the talented CAP YORK.

A few lots later, he also signed the docket at €100,000 for another son of Doctor Dino. Offered from The Channel Consignment, the store is a half-brother to Grade 1 Cheltenham winner LABAIK.

They’re two very well-bred Doctor Dinos, said the agent. They’ll join the boxes of Gordon Elliott and run in the colours of Andy and Gemma Brown.

LOT 419d
FOXFIRE GLOW sold for €315,000

One of the most eagerly awaited Wild Cards in the ring, the François Nicolle trained FOXFIRE GLOW was knocked down for €315,000. The three-year-old half-brother to Grade 2 placed Âgé de INVOCATION, most recently finished second over hurdles at Compiègne.

€210,000 for IRONICA DE THAIX

Once again on behalf of Gwent Holdings, Tom Malone went to €210,000 for IRONICA DE THAIX. Offered as a Wild Card, the three-year-old AQPS gelding won on his debut at Senonnes for Daniela Mele. The well-bred son of Coastal Path is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner DICA DE THAIX. 

I've bought him for the same team as Si Elegant, said Tom Malone. His trainer really recommended him. His half-brother is an excellent performer and he won very well on his debut. Hell also go to Christian Williams.

QUAIS DE PARIS sold for €180,000

After making their presence felt having already purchased several lots during the day, Pierre Boulard and Harold Kirk once again came to the fore, this time for the Yannick Fouin trained QUAIS DE PARIS. Third on his debut over hurdles at Compiègne, the three-year-old son of Masked Marvel is the first foal out of a two-time Auteuil winner by Muhtathir from the family of dual Group winner ROYAL TOUCH.

Hes an impressive horse with an imposing frame by a good stallion. He has everything to go point to pointing in Ireland, said Pierre Boulard. We like him a lot and are looking forward to him joining Wille Mullins.

LOT 405
SI ELEGANT goes to England

Second on his debut at Auteuil, Wild Card SI ELEGANT was knocked down for €155,000 to Tom Malone. Trained by Yannick Fouin, the son of Gemix out of sister to Grand Steeple Chase de Loire-Atlantique (L.) winner NOB HILL will join the boxes of Christian Williams in England for Gwent Holdings.

After signing the docket, Malone said:

We really like this horse. Hes got a very good physique, is young, and has already shown a lot of potential given his first outing over hurdles at Auteuil. For me, he really ticks all the boxes!

SINGLEDON sold for €110,000

Third in the Derby du Midi (L.), the Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte trained SINGLEDON was knocked down for €110,000. A two-time winner this season, the three-year-old New Bay gelding is from the excellent Wertheimer family of  PLUMANIA and LEFT HAND.

After signing the docket, Andy Weiss (A-Turf) commented:

My client was looking for a horse for the Grand Prix de St. Moritz. Hell go to Claudia Emi in Avenches that regularly runs in France. Hell definitely be back here!

€150,000 for HOULANBATORDECHAIS

A few minutes later, the unbeaten HOULANBATORDECHAIS was knocked down for €150,000. Bidding once again on behalf of Willie Mullins, Harold Kirk and Pierre Boulard had the final say for the Alain Couetil trained gelding. The four-year-old son of Great Pretender is from the close family of Group winners ETATIX and UNION DUES.

After signing the docket, Pierre Boulard said,

He’s a lovely horse by Great Pretender, that is a very good stallion. His trainer said a lot of good things about him. He has run twice and won twice, and now he is ready to go over fences. We’ll now let Willie Mullins work his magic!

ARISTOCATE goes to England

With an eye-catching update since the catalogue was published, the black-type performer ARISTOCRATE was knocked down for €140,000. Third in the Prix Scaramouche (L.) at the beginning of October, the Alain Couetil trained colt was also runner-up in the Prix Denisy (L.) over 3,100m at Saint-Cloud last week. A son of Elusive City, the four-year-old colt is from the close family of the very talented MONSUN and MOLLY MALONE.

Nicolas Bertran de Balanda (NBB Racing) commented after securing the colt:

Hell go to England where hell be trained by Richard Newland. Hes a lovely good-looking colt with very good form.

ALASTOR joins Willie Mullins

Two lots later, Wild Card ALASTOR made €150,000. Runner-up in a Listed race at Compiegne, the three-year-old son of Helmet also finished third in the Derby Italiano (Gr.2) this season. Offered by The Channel Consignment, the Gianluca Bietolini trained colt was sold to Pierre Boulard and Harold Kirk on behalf of Irish trainer Willie Mullins.

We really liked the horse, said Pierre Boulard. Hes a horse with a lot of class and good-looking. Hell go to Willie Mullins - were very happy!
 
In 2019, the same team secured GAILLARD DU MESNIL, a son of Saint des Saints that has since won two Grade 1s over hurdles this year.

QUESSIGNY sold for €102,000 to Hana Jurankova

Offered as a Wild Card by Antoine de Watrigant, the Toulouse Coupe des 2 ans winner QUESSIGNY was knocked down for €102,000. Hana Jurankova, in her new role as an agent, had the final say for the two-year-old son of Recorder, from the family of Group winners SUMMER MOOD, WARM HEART and TIGER RIDE.  

I’ve bought him for a East European client, she said. Hes a lovely horse with some very good performances. Hell go to the Czech Republic to be trained.
