The Channel Consignment offered ZOMARA through the ring, a half-sister to last season’s Derby du Languedoc (L.) winner MERVEILLO, from the family of the very talented performers ECTOT and MOST IMPROVED. Bidding on behalf of Yeomanstown Stud, Alain Decrion had the final say at €140,000 for the daughter of Dubawi, in foal to Haras d’Etreham’s young sire Persian King.
She’ll go to Yeomanstown Stud in Ireland, said the agent. They have a range of stallions there, so there is a lot of choice for her.
The eagerly awaited Princess Margaret and Nell Gwyn Stakes (Gr.3s) winner OSAILA captured the attention of buyers in the ring. It was Arthur Hoyeau that went to €200,000 to secure the sister to Group winner OBAMA RULE, also from the close family of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) scorers DETROIT and CARNEGIE.
After signing the docket, he said,
She’s a lovely mare, with one of the best profiles in the sale. She had a great race career and her pedigree is exceptional. She is already the dam of a winner and will visit St Mark’s Basilica this season.
The second day of the February Mixed Sale started with a bang when a son of No Nay Never went through the ring from Domaine de l'Étang. Charles Brière (Fairway Consignment) had the final say at €80,000 for the colt from the family of Group winners GREGORIAN and PREMIO LOCO.
I’ve bought him for a partnership, said Charles Brière. He’s a lovely colt that should mature nicely. He’s by No Nay Never, a sire that I like a lot and has done very well. His dam is by Galileo, so it’s a good cross.
A little later, Alessandro Marconi went to €90,000 for the Joël Boisnard trained MARYNDER. The two-year-old son of Pedro The Great is from the family of dual US Grade 1 winner QUESTING and last season's Listed winner and Group placed ADVENTURING.
His dam is by Hard Spun, a stallion that I like a lot and I think is a very good broodmare sire, said Alessandro Marconi. We don’t know yet if he’ll run in France, but the Owners’ Premiums are interesting. His objective is the Middle East.
Offered by Pierre-Jean Fertillet, BE A NICE GIRL was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. From the family of dual Grade 1 winner ALLAHO and the very talented LADIES CHOICE, LORD DU MESNIL and SHANNON ROCK, the daughter of Bathyrhon was knocked down for €120,000 to Marco Bozzi.
