Daughter of Wootton Bassett for Al Shaqab Racing

A few lots later, the Al Shaqab Racing team went to €675,000 for a daughter of Wootton Bassett out of Group winner MARBRE ROSE. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, the filly hails from the excellent family of ZOFTIG, ZI IMPRESSIVE and ZAFTIG.

Son of Wootton Bassett goes to Japan
A few minutes later, buyers were once again present around the ring for a son of Wootton Bassett out of Prix de Miesque (Gr.3) scorer and Prix Morny (Gr.1) placed MAGIC AMERICA. The hammer fell at €1 million in favour of Japanese trainer Yoshito Yahagi for the half-brother to Listed winner and Group placed LOOK AROUND, that hails from the family of the very talented DELILAH, DRAMA, TYCOON’S DRAMA and ENDLESS DRAMA.

€700,000 for a daughter of Siyouni

Offered from Écurie des Monceaux, a daughter of Siyouni out of a half-sister to triple Group 1 scorer CHARM SPIRIT was knocked down for €700,000. It was the agent Ramiro Restrepo (Marquee Bloodstock) that signed the docket for the filly from the family of Classic winner DREAM AND DO.

We’ve waited three days for this filly, said the agent. I’ve bought her for JR Ranch. She has everything going for her - the temperament and physique and she has a lovely head with lots of class. She’s also got a great pedigree page, is a daughter of Siyouni and her dam is by Frankel and there is Charm Spirit and Dream and Do in the family. We’re delighted. She’ll stay in France and be trained in Chantilly by Tim Donworth.

Son of Camelot for Godolphin

Consigned by Gestüt Ammerland, a son of Camelot out of Group winner and Group 1 placed LADY FRANKEL was subject to a lot of interest from a number of different buyers around the ring. The gavel finally fell at €850,000 in favour of Anthony Stroud for the colt from the family of LADY VETTORI, LOPE DE VEGA, BAL DE LA ROSE, and DANCETERIA.

He’s a lovely horse, said Anthony Stroud. We bought his half-brother by Shamardal here last year. We really like this colt and it’s a real stallion’s pedigree. We are very happy.

Son of Siyouni knocked down for €2,2 million

The auditorium was packed for the eagerly awaited turn of a colt by Siyouni out of a half-sister to the top class racehorse and late sire SHAMARDAL through the ring. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, it was M.V. Magnier (Coolmore) that had the final say after a long bidding war for the colt that hails from the excellent family of HELEN STREET, STREET CRY, VICTOR LUDORUM and TERRITORIES.

A few minutes earlier, he had also signed the docket at €800,000 for a son of Wootton Bassett also from Écurie des Monceaux. The well bred grandson of Group 1 winner DAMSON hails from the close family of DUBAI HONOUR, a winner of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Ranvet Stakes (Gr.1s) this season, as well as the talented  REQUINTO, LAST KINGDOM, LILIKOI, TASSMOUN and WHISKY BARON etc.

Son of Wootton Bassett for Al Shaqab Racing

Among the first yearlings to go under the hammer on the third and final day of the August Yearling Sale, a son of Wootton Bassett and a half-brother to Listed scorer LADY GALORE was subject to a lot of interest around the ring. Bidding on behalf of Al Shaqab Racing, Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) went to €575,000 to secure the grandson of the excellent performer SPAIN, a multiple Group winner that included the Breeders’ Cup Distaff and La Brea Stakes (Gr.1s).

LOT 214
€2,4 million for a half-sister to BUCANERO FUERTE and WOODED

It was a packed house when a half-sister by Dubawi to last weekend's Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes winner BUCANERO FUERTE and Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp winner WOODED entered the ring. English agent Oliver St Lawrence, acting on behalf of a Bahraini owner, had the final say at €2.4 million for the filly from the talented family of FIRM FRIEND, FRED LALLOUPET and MAGIC RING, consigned by Haras d'Etreham.

She’s a lovely filly, said Oliver St. Lawrence. I’ve bought her for Bahraini owner. He dam has produced two fantastic performers that have won Group 1s and we hope she will be just as good on the racetrack. She’ll come back to England and we’ll decide later where she’ll going into training. We’re very happy.

Écurie des Monceaux offered a daughter of Siyouni out of a half-sister to the Preis Von Europa (Gr.1) scorer EMPOLI that was knocked down for €650,000 to Ghislain Bozo (Meridian International). The filly hails from the family of multiple Group 1 winner ELLE DANZIG.

€660,000 for a son of Night Of Thunder

Just afterwards, Richard Brown (Blandford Bloodstock) went to €660,000 for a half-brother by Night Of Thunder to multiple Group winner THE JULIET ROSE and Listed scorer EVEREST ROSE. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, the well-bred colt out of DUBAI ROSE hails from the family of Prix de Royallieu (Gr.1) heroine SEA LA ROSA.

Son of Ghaiyyath for Godolphin

Already the buyer of the top price on day one, a son of Dubawi for €1,25 million, Anthony Stroud struck once again, this time at €600,000 for a son of the young Darley sire Ghaiyyath. Consigned by Haras des Capucines, the well-bred colt is out of a sister to Group winner LOCKWOOD from the family of the talented EARNSHAW, ZAFADOLA, PEARL GREY and ARTISTIC RIFLES etc.

He’s a lovely colt by Ghaiyyath, a sire that we have high hopes for said Anthony Stroud. We really like him and he’s a very well bred colt that is nicely balanced.

A little later in the day, the gavel fell at €525,000 for a colt from the first crop of Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) winner Sottsass. It was the Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida that had the final say for the colt out of a half-sister to Group winner ZIYAD from the excellent family of AQUARELLISTE and ARTISTE ROYALE consigned by Anna Sundstrom (Coulonces).

€410,000 for a daughter of Sea The Stars

The second day of the August Yearling Sale, which sees around 100 yearlings go under the hammer with exceptional pedigrees and conformation, began on Saturday afternoon. Among the first lots to go through the ring was a daughter of Sea The Stars from Écurie des Monceaux, that was knocked down for €410,000. David Redvers had the final say for the filly, that is a half-sister to Group winners AMORELLA and ACCON.

She’s a daughter of Sea The Stars, a stallion that doesn’t need any introduction, said David Redvers after signing the docket. We’ve been looking for a profile like hers and she’s a lovely filly with a great pedigree. She’ll come back to the stud and we’ll give her a bit of time before deciding on her future.

Very active around the ring today, the duo of Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International Agency) and Benoit Jeffroy (Al Shaqab Racing) came to the fore once again, this time when going to €500,000 for a daughter of Kingman, the first foal out of Group winner ZARGOS. Consigned by Écurie des Monceaux, the filly is from the close family of DOUBLES PARTNER, ZABEEL PRINCE, PUISSANCE DE LUNE, QUEEN POXER and SUMMER ROMANCE.

Offered from Haras de Saint Pair, a son of Frankel out of Listed winner and Group 1 placed VIA PISA was knocked down for €950,000. After a long bidding war, it was Richard Brown (Blandford Bloodstock) had the final say for the grandson of VIA MEDICI, that hails from the close family of the excellent ADMIRE MARS.

Her dam has already produced a good horse by Frankel, said Richard Brown. There was a lot of interest surrounding this colt, and were very happy. Hell go to England first and well decide on his future at a later date.

Baroda Stud consigned a son of Lope De Vega out of Listed scorer TIFOSA today, with the gavel falling in favour of Anthony Stroud on behalf of Godolphin for €580,000. The colt hails from the family of Group 1 scorers ARCANO, GILT EDGE GIRL and the talented TARWIYA, SWORD FIGHTER and GODFREY STREET.

A few minutes later, Anthony Stroud, once more bidding on behalf of Godolphin, signed the docket at €1,25 million for a son of Dubawi. Offered from Écurie des Monceaux, the colt is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner and young sire PERSIAN KING from the family of top level scorers PLANTEUR and PEINTURE CELEBRE, as well as the very talented POLICY MAKER, PUSHKIN, PLACE ROUGE and PEINTURE BLEUE.

An unmissable event in the European sales calendar, ARQANA’s August Yearling Sale began this afternoon, the day after the first running of the ARQANA Series that took place at Deauville-La Touques Racecourse.
