€97,000 for a son of Doctor Dino

Joffrey Huet (JH Bloodstock) had to battle hard for a son of Doctor Dino, offered from Haras de la Haie Neuve. The agent had the final say for the half-brother to this season’s Scottish Triumph Hurdle (L.) victor THYME WHITE at €97,000.

He’s the standout of the day for me,” commented the agent. I’ve bought him for Andy Stewart. We saw him at the stud a few weeks ago and we loved him. He’ll go to England to be trained by Paul Nicholls.

Son of Martaline for Ecurie Hub de Montmirail

One of the first yearlings to go through the ring today, a son of the late Martaline from Haras de Montaigu went for €87,000. It was Bertrand Le Metayer (BLM Bloodstock) that had the final say for the colt from the family of Prix Roger Saint (L.) winner AMARETTE. 

Our passion for Martaline, that left us too soon, has spoken with this colt, said Bertrand Le Metayer. He’ll go to Arnaud Chaille-Chaille and carry the colours of Ecurie Hub de Montmirail. Let’s cross our fingers that he’ll be the next Nirvana du Berlais!

Son of Kapgarde for Highflyer Bloodstock

Nearing the end of the session, David Powell (Highflyer Bloodstock) went to €100,000 to secure a son of Kapgarde (lot 616) from Haras de la Hêtraie to be trained by Paul Nicholls. The gelding is from the family of top class chaser CLAN DES OBEAUX, also with the Ditcheat handler. 

We really liked him, said David Powell. Hell go to England to be trained by Paul Nicholls.

LOT 589
€175,000 for a half-brother to SCEAU ROYAL

Vincent Le Roy and Margaret O’Toole entered into a long battle for a half-brother by Authorized (lot 589) to SCEAU ROYAL from Haras des Pierres Follets for Guy Vimont. It was the former that had the final say at €175,000 for the colt, whose half-brother has won the Henry VII Novices’ Chase (Gr.1) and scored multiple times at Grade 2 level.

Half-brother to AS D'ESTRUVAL for Guillaume Macaire

Trainer of the late AS D'ESTRUVAL, Guillaume Macaire secured a half-brother by Martaline to the Auteuil Group winner. Consigned by Haras de l'Hôtellerie, the gelding out of Prix Bournosienne (Gr.3) winner OMBRE D’ESTRUVAL was knocked down for €160,000.

Two stores for Andy and Gemma Brown

At the helm of Towerview Stables in Ireland and acting on behalf of Andy et Gemma Brown, Joey Logan made his presence felt during the session reserved for stores when going to €140,000 for a half-brother by Martaline to the very talented IRISH SAINT consigned by Haras du Mâ.

A few lots earlier, he also had the final say for a son of Doctor Dino (lot 537) for €88,000. Offered from The Channel Consignment, the half-brother to Auteuil chase winner LE LUDE hails from the family of Grade 1 winner A PLUS TARD, also third in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham this year. 

They are both very good looking horses, that are well bred and have good physiques by two excellent stallions. They really stood out,commented Joey Logan. Theyll come back to the stud to be broken, then theyll go to Gordon Elliott to be trained for Andy and Gemma Brown.

HOUX GRIS sold for €200,000

Consigned by Jean-Marie Callier as a Wild Card, HOUX GRIS was sold for €200,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock. Trained by Sylvain Dehez, the three-year-old son of Gris de Gris won the Prix Lusignan over hurdles at Auteuil on his latest outing, his second start over jumps.

We’ve bought him for Jared Sullivan,” commented David Powell. “He’ll go to England where he’ll be trained by Paul Nicholls.

FLAMBEUR for Australian trainer Matthew Smith

The winner of La Coupe de Marseille (L.) at three and most recently runner-up in the Grand Prix des Provinces (L.) this season, the Carlos Laffon-Parias trained FLAMBEUR went for €100,000. Bidding on the telephone, trainer Matthew Smith had the final say for the Wertheimer Brothers’ homebred, that will continue his career in Australia.

ARAPAHO direction Australia

This season’s Prix du Pont Neuf (L.) winner ARAPAHO, trained by Andre Fabre, was knocked down for €140,000. Bidding on the telephone, it was Bjorn Baker, Jim Clarke and Mark McStay (Avenue Bloodstock) that had the final say for the three-year-old son of Lope de Vega, that also finished third in the Prix de Saint-Patrick. He will now be trained in Australia by Bjorn Baker.

TAX FOR MAX for Highflyer Bloodstock

Offered from Gestüt Ohlerweiherhof, a son of Maxios, TAX FOR MAX, was knocked down for €200,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock. Trained by Henk Grewe, the three-year-old colt, with a current rating of 49,5 (109), finished fourth in the  Sparkasse KölnBonn-Union-Rennen (Gr.2) this season. He will now join the boxes of Willie Mullins and run in the colours of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.
